First Reaction To 'The Naked Gun' From Comedy Icon: "I Missed That Feeling"
The film's close friend and director's buddy, Andy Samberg, expresses his excitement about the reboot.
At the end of this month, The Naked Gun will finally hit theaters. The long-awaited reboot of the classic series from the '80s and '90s aims to bring back "pure comedy" to the big screen.
And if we are to believe Andy Samberg, then they’ve succeeded. The actor from Palm Springs and Brooklyn 99 is one of the best friends of the film’s director (Akiva Schaffer) and has seen it several times already.
"It's just pure fun," Samberg tells ScreenRant. "Of course, I'm biased, [but] everyone I've seen it with said the same thing: 'I didn't realize how much I missed that feeling of pure, silly comedy.'"
"I think he's really delivered on this," Samberg continues. "Liam Neeson is so funny in the movie; he’s that good. Pamela Anderson is fantastic too. I'm really happy for them."
So, praise from Samberg, but as he himself says, he’s obviously biased. We will soon see if others share his opinion. The Naked Gun will be in theaters starting August 1st.
