Netflix Makes A Big Exception For The Release Of Guillermo Del Toro's 'Frankenstein'
The visionary filmmaker has worked tirelessly for years to bring this project to life and is finally seeing it come to fruition.
In a week's time, Guillermo Del Toro's Frankenstein will have its world premiere at the Venice festival, an adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel that he has dedicated his entire career to.
More details about the ambitious project have now come to light through an article in Variety, confirming a production budget of $120 million for a shooting period of 120 days.
Additionally, the horror drama will receive the longest exclusive theatrical release ever from Netflix, lasting three weeks. The start date is October 17, after which the title will be available on the streaming service on November 7. Netflix will also release it on physical media.
Del Toro: "The cinema experience remains very important, I believe in that. And if I have to choose between making it or showing it in parts, that choice is quickly made. As a director, you want to tell your stories".
Oscar Isaac plays Victor Frankenstein, a scientist obsessed with life who creates a monster (Jacob Elordi) that he rejects, with tragic consequences. Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz play supporting roles.
