From The Creators Of 'Homeland'; After Six Long Years, Netflix Finally Reveals The Trailer For This Thrilling Miniseries

Matthew Rhys portrays a real estate mogul surrounded by secrets in the series The Beast in Me on Netflix.

Matthew Rhys has previously appeared as a lawyer in Perry Mason and as a spy in The Americans, but starting in November, he will star in a completely different type of mystery. In the new Netflix series The Beast in Me, his character finds himself in a sinister situation when he buys a house in a quiet neighborhood. What begins as a move soon spirals into a dark game of secrets and distrust.

The eight episodes revolve around Nile Jarvis, a powerful real estate mogul with a dubious reputation, played by Rhys. He was once the prime suspect in the disappearance of his wife and remains surrounded by gossip and suspicion. His arrival captures the curiosity of writer Aggie Wiggs, played by Claire Danes, who has retreated from public life after the loss of her son. In search of new inspiration, she becomes entangled in Nile's past.

Cat-and-mouse Game

Aggie’s fascination with her neighbor develops into a dangerous cat-and-mouse game. As she observes him for her new book, she risks getting increasingly caught up in his world. The series was created by Gabe Rotter, known for The X-Files, and emphasizes themes such as grief, obsession, and the blurring of boundaries between fact and fiction.

Alongside Rhys and Danes, the cast includes Brittany Snow, Natalie Morales, Jonathan Banks, and Julie Ann Emery. Howard Gordon, who previously worked with Danes on Homeland, is involved as showrunner and writer. Antonio Campos directs and also serves as an executive producer.

Long Road To Netflix

The Beast in Me had a development period of over six years, during which producers such as Daniel Pearle, Conan O’Brien, and Jodie Foster joined the project. Rhys previously stated that he initially did not think he was the right choice for the role of Nile, but according to Gordon, it was precisely his charm that intensified the character's threat.
