Four Years In The Making, This International Crime Sensation Is Back To Dominate Apple TV All Over Again

The hiatus has ended. Four years in the making, this international thriller returns to Apple TV, delivering an opening act that’s as explosive as it is overdue.

With the third season of Tehran, Apple TV kicks off its international lineup for 2026. The premiere episode dropped on January 9, marking the official return of a series fans have been waiting over three years to see. Surprisingly, the new season had been ready for years, but due to current tensions in the Middle East, Apple decided to delay its release.

Tehran, a co-production between Apple TV and the Israeli broadcaster KAN 11, was filmed in its entirety back in 2022. While a 2023 release initially seemed logical, the political sensitivity of the subject matter led to postponement. In the meantime, the demand for a continuation only intensified. The series has now launched on Apple TV, releasing a new episode weekly leading up to the season finale on February 27.

Fresh Faces, High Stakes

Season three sees the cast bolstered by the addition of Hugh Laurie, who takes on the role of a South African nuclear inspector. Protagonist Tamar, played by Niv Sultan, is on the run following the explosive events of season two. In this latest chapter, she attempts to reclaim her standing within the Mossad, all while old enemies close in.

Despite the nearly four-year gap since the last episode, interest in the show hasn't waned in the slightest. On the contrary: the third season shot straight to the top of the Apple TV charts in 68 countries. Apple has already confirmed that a fourth season is in the works.

A Must-Watch Thriller

It is a suspenseful and timely series that you can catch weekly on Apple TV right now!
