"No Confidence" In 'The Old Guard' Sequel On Netflix
Charlize Theron expresses her doubts about the likelihood of a third film in the series, citing uncertainty in the industry.
The Old Guard 2 is now available on Netflix, and the reactions havenot been good. Of course, this doesn’t matter much to the streamer as long as the viewing figures are strong.
We will have to wait a bit longer for that, but franchise star Charlize Theron has little confidence that a third film will be made. She shared her thoughts in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
"[I have] no confidence in it," Theron stated. "One thing I’ve learned in this industry is that there are no guarantees. (...) We made the first film without an idea that there would be a sequel."
She continues: "We treated [The Old Guard 2] exactly the same way. I’m being completely honest when I say that we have no idea what that third film should even look like."
If a third film does happen, it will not be with director Victoria Mahoney. She states that she is fully booked for the next 5 to 6 years with other projects.
