This Movie Is So Disturbing That You Never Want To See It Again
The horror film 'Hostel: Part II' has elements so disturbing and intense that it leaves an unforgettable impression, making a second viewing unlikely.
Some horror films are manageable and not too scary, allowing for a rewatch. However, there are horror films that are so frightening and disturbing that you would never want to see them again.
One of those films is Hostel: Part II, the sequel to the horror film Hostel, which was already scary. This 2007 horror movie was written and directed by Eli Roth, featuring lead roles for Lauren German, Roger Bart, Heather Matarazzo, Bijou Phillips, and Richard Burgi.
The production was handled by Mike Fleiss, Roth and Chris Briggs, with Boaz Yakin, Scott Spiegel, and Quentin Tarantino as executive producers. Hostel: Part II follows three American female art students studying in Rome.
They are lured into visiting a spa in a Slovak village, where they fall victim to an organization called the Elite Hunting Club. This organization kidnaps tourists and sells them to wealthy individuals who are then allowed to torture and kill them.
After the huge box office success of Hostel, Roth conceived a sequel that takes place directly after the events of the first film. He chose to include three female protagonists to raise the stakes.
Hostel: Part II was banned or censored in several countries, including New Zealand, Germany, and Malaysia. The film received mixed to negative reviews, though some critics praised the surprising ending and appreciated the satirical undertone.
Although this sequel is much more enjoyable to watch than the original Hostel, the extremely bloody (and imaginative) murder scenes make this film suitable for only one viewing, unless you really enjoy watching people being ripped apart like fish for no apparent reason.
The second film in the Hostel series combines two intriguing storylines: that of captured women and the men who pay a fortune to kill them. The ending will make you cheer, and the misogynistic attitudes often found in horror films are finally upended in this film. But we doubt you'll ever want to see this film a second time.
