Audiences And Critics Agree: New 'War Of The Worlds' Is Terribly Bad

It's not often that both critics and audiences share the same negative opinion about a film, but this new version of 'War of the Worlds' has failed miserably.

Prime Video quietly dropped its new version of H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds starring Ice Cube last week, without much fanfare or even early reviews.

The release followed just a week after the trailer for this 'Screenlife' project, where the entire story unfolds on screens like computers, tablets, phone displays, camera recordings, etc.

Filmed In 2020

Cube plays Will Radford, a top cyber security analyst at Homeland Security, who detects potential national security threats through a surveillance program. An attack by an unknown entity raises his suspicions about whether the government is hiding something from the world.

Now that the title has been out for a while, the reactions are pouring in, with critics giving it a stunning 0% on 'Rotten Tomatoes'. The audience, who streamed it en masse, also rejected it with a score of 12%.

Feature Film Commercial

Some reviews condemn the shameless self-promotion for Amazon, highlighting scenes with a homeless man bribed with his own gift card, drone delivery shots, or the checkout interface.
