The BBC Brings Good News About This Popular Sci-fi Series
Recently, the new head of BBC, Kate Phillips, shared exciting news about the beloved show Doctor Who, reassuring fans about its future.
When the BBC announced its collaboration with Disney for Doctor Who, expectations were sky-high. However, the disappointing fourteenth and fifteenth seasons led many to suspect that Disney might end the partnership.
Deadline reports that Kate Phillips, the new Director of Content, delivered a positive message during the Edinburgh TV Festival. Doctor Who will continue, regardless of the Disney alliance.
The miniseries The War Between the Land and the Sea is scheduled for 2025 and will take place in the 'Doctor Who' universe. It is currently unknown whether the agreement with Disney will be extended afterward.
However, this does not impact the iconic 'Doctor Who' franchise. Phillips stated: "'Doctor Who' will still be broadcast on the BBC. The Tardis is here to stay in the programming." This will undoubtedly be music to fans' ears.
Earlier, Ncuti Gatwa, who played the Fifteenth Doctor, announced his departure. The season concluded with a regeneration into Rose (Billie Piper), who was previously the companion of the Ninth (Christopher Ecclestone) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant).
