Big Surprise, 'The Witcher' Suddenly Starts Again On Netflix
Season 4 of 'The Witcher' starring Liam Hemsworth will be released at the end of October 2025 on Netflix.
Fans of The Witcher have been waiting for over two years for new episodes. The third season was released in the summer of 2023 and since then, it has been eerily quiet about the continuation. Netflix kept the release date for season 4 well hidden, but it now seems that the wait will surprisingly be over soon. The fantasy series is set to return in October, this time featuring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt instead of Henry Cavill.
Henry Cavill bid farewell to the role of the notorious monster hunter in season 3. It was already known that Liam Hemsworth would take over for both season 4 and season 5. The new episodes have been filmed a long time ago and have been in the editing phase for months. However, Netflix remained silent, causing fans to wonder when Hemsworth would finally make his debut.
According to the usually well-informed site Redanian Intelligence, the launch is scheduled for the last days of October 2025. The most logical date in the Netflix calendar would be October 30. A notable choice is that all eight episodes of the fourth season will be available at once, while Netflix has often chosen to split popular titles into two parts in recent years.
In addition to the main series, the spin-off project The Rats is also expected to be released this year. This production, which has faced numerous issues, will not appear as a miniseries but as a feature film. It follows Ciri, who now calls herself Falka, alongside the so-called Rat Gang. This group was already introduced in season 3.
The Witcher once started as one of Netflix's biggest assets but gradually lost many viewers and was also an expensive production. Now the question is whether the change of lead actor and the fresh enthusiasm in seasons 4 and 5 can lead to a revival. The first official trailer is expected soon, which will likely kick off Netflix's promotional campaign.
