Greengrass, known for films like United 93 and Captain Phillips, directs a strong cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, America Ferrera, Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson.
The screenplay is written by Paul Greengrass and Brad Ingelsby. The film focuses on the devastating wildfires in California that struck the town of Paradise in 2018.
According to the official description, The Lost Bus is "a nerve-racking ride through one of the deadliest wildfires in American history." At the center are a quirky bus driver (McConaughey) and a dedicated teacher (Ferrera) who work together to rescue 22 children from the engulfing inferno.
The Camp Fire claimed the lives of 85 people and impacted around 50,000 residents. The disaster left a deep impression and was previously highlighted in the short Netflix documentary Fire in Paradise.
