Monstrous Sci-Fi Series On Apple TV Receives Great News For Season 2

A familiar face returns for 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' and fans are thrilled.

It has been almost two years since Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premiered on Apple TV, just a few days short. The series, which is part of Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse, enjoyed a successful first season and will return with season 2 in February 2026.

Good news has arrived for that second season. Apple TV has announced in a special video that one of the top actors from season 1 is coming back.

Kurt Russell

Kurt Russell (The Thing, The Hateful Eight) portrayed Lee Shaw, a former military officer, in season 1. His son Wyatt Russell played the younger version of the character.

Given his fate at the end of Season 1, it was unclear if Russell would return for season 2, but the Apple TV video featuring behind-the-scenes footage officially confirms his return. You can find the video at the bottom of this article.

2026

Filming for season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters wrapped up back in February of this year. The new season is set to premiere sometime in 2026.
