One Of The Most Successful Netflix Series Of 2025 Officially Gets A Second Season
Exciting new actors have joined an already impressive cast for the second season of Black Doves.
The Black Doves are coming back. Netflix has officially confirmed that a second season of the thrilling London spy series Black Doves is on the way. Created by Joe Barton and starring Keira Knightley in the lead role, the series will once again be filled with intrigue, secrets, and danger. Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire will also return, along with some fresh faces.
Ambika Mod (One Day) plays Laila, a sharp and anarchistic Black Doves agent supporting Helen (Knightley) on a risky mission. Babou Ceesay (Alien: Earth) takes on the role of Mr. Conteh, a driver with questionable intentions. Sam Riley (Firebrand) portrays Patrick, a mysterious emissary offering Sam (Whishaw) an unexpected escape. And none other than Neve Campbell (Scream) joins the cast as Cecile Mason.
In addition to Knightley, Whishaw, and Lancashire, we will see familiar names returning from season one: Andrew Buchan, Kathryn Hunter, Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey, and Molly Chesworth.
Helen continues to leak state secrets to the clandestine Black Doves organization. Meanwhile, her unsuspecting husband Wallace (Buchan) is on the verge of becoming the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. As Helen tries to protect her double life, her handler Mrs. Reed (Lancashire) becomes embroiled in a ruthless conspiracy.
Helen is reunited with her best friend Sam, once an elite hitman, now a man spending his days with low-paying gigs and loneliness in Soho bars. Together they search for answers, but in a world where loyalty is a weapon, trust can be deadly.
"It’s exciting to return to this murderous spy family," says creator Joe Barton. "With so many familiar faces and some of my favorite actors included, this season will be a feast. Downing Street will never be the same again…"
Jane Featherstone and Chris Fry from Sister add: "We are thrilled to work again with Netflix on this story full of love, lies, and espionage. Season two will be bigger, bolder, and just as delightfully unpredictable."
Black Doves is a production of Sister (This is Going to Hurt, The Split) and Noisy Bear (Amadeus, Giri/Haji). Directed by Julian Farino and Kieron Hawkes, with Callum Devrell-Cameron producing the series. Netflix promises: "This is what happens when top-notch writers, directors, and actors meet in a dark alley with weapons and champagne."
