The End or a New Beginning? Apple TV Just Dropped a Bombshell About Its Biggest Series
One of the actors from the latest season provides an exciting update about the future of the show.
Rebecca Ferguson’s dystopian sci-fi thriller Silo continues to be one of the most acclaimed drama series on Apple TV. Although the show has currently dropped out of the platform's Top 10, anticipation among fans is growing as they await season 3. Now, actor Steve Zahn is giving a promising hint about what is in store for the next two seasons, and according to him, it's going to be epic.
During the press round for Anaconda, Collider’s Steve Weintraub spoke with Zahn and his co-star Thandiwe Newton. In that conversation, Zahn confirmed that he is deeply involved in the production of the next chapter of Silo. When asked whether he will indeed appear in both seasons 3 and 4, he answered resolutely: "Yes. We're almost done. I'm almost finished. I flew in here yesterday."
Although Apple TV has yet to announce an official release date for season 3, Zahn hinted that the new episodes are in the final stages of production.
"Season 3 is still in post-production. It's coming. I don't know when. It's a complex show, especially with all the visual effects." While season 3 is still heavily in VFX-rich post-production, Zahn is simultaneously working on season 4. And according to him, that season is going to be bigger and more spectacular than ever. "We're currently in the middle of season 4, and it’s the biggest show so far. So much is happening. Season 4 is really cool. It's expanding completely. There's a lot of action."
Silo is set in a dystopian world where thousands of people live underground in a massive, kilometers-deep bunker. They believe this is the last safe place on earth. No one knows who built the silo or why going outside is deadly. One thing is for sure: anyone who asks too many questions is sent outside to 'clean'; a death sentence.
The series was created by Graham Yost (Justified) and is based on the bestsellers by Hugh Howey. Over the course of the seasons, Silo has evolved from the perspective of Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) into a broad plot full of political intrigue and psychological tension. Season 2 received rave reviews for this expansion of the story.
Steve Zahn made an impression with his role as Solo, a character who turned out to be a standout addition. Besides Ferguson and Zahn, the cast includes Common, Tim Robbins, and Harriet Walter. For the upcoming seasons, Ashley Zukerman and Jessica Henwick will also join the cast.
The first two seasons of Silo are now streaming on Apple TV.
