Disappointment Ahead: 'Wednesday', 'Untamed' And Other Major Netflix Titles Won't Return In 2026
Many popular Netflix series won't be returning to screens until 2027, forcing audiences to exercise more patience for their favorites.
Anyone hoping to see new seasons of several major Netflix series in 2026 will need to exercise a bit more patience. The list of titles for next year is notably missing many audience favorites, including Wednesday, Ginny and Georgia, Untamed, and Ransom Canyon.
Netflix has unveiled its television schedule for 2026, featuring dozens of new and returning productions, such as the final seasons of Outer Banks and The Witcher, along with new episodes of Bridgerton, One Piece, and Beef. However, it appears that several titles are not on the docket for the coming year and are therefore not expected until 2027. International series like Supacell, Dept Q, Bet, and Geek Girl are also missing from the schedule.
The delay for Wednesday is understandable. The production demands a lot of time, and the second season took nearly three years to arrive, partly due to the strikes in 2023. Although the series was renewed early for a third season and casting has already begun, a new batch of episodes isn't expected until 2027. Ginny and Georgia has also been following a two-year cycle for years. Season 4 is currently in production and is also scheduled for a 2027 release.
Filming for the second season is still underway for Ransom Canyon and Forever. Both series debuted in 2025 and were given the green light for follow-up episodes shortly after, but the schedule points to a release in early 2027. Regarding the crime series Untamed, starring Eric Bana, the first season was originally set up as a miniseries, and redeveloping it into an ongoing series requires extra time.
The delays aren't just affecting American productions. The superhero drama Supacell is sliding back at least two and a half years because filming for Season 2 started later. Dept Q is now in production and is also aiming for a 2027 release. Notably absent are Geek Girl and the third and final season of Heartbreak High, both of which have been wrapped for some time but still haven't been included in the 2026 schedule. It seems 2027 will be the next opportunity for many Netflix viewers to see a large portion of these series return.
