Netflix Faces Subscriber Outrage: "Remove This Junk"

Netflix is facing criticism for its recent changes, as users express their dissatisfaction with the interface and gaming focus.

While Netflix is the largest streaming service available, there are points of criticism. The streaming giant has recently come under scrutiny due to updates, and many users have clearly expressed their displeasure.

It turns out that numerous subscribers believe that two key features should be completely removed from the platform. What started as a small debate on social media has now erupted into a bit of a digital rebellion.

What Needs To Change

Many Netflix members have set their sights on two elements they dislike: the new user interface and Netflix's increasing focus on games. Since 2021, Netflix has been trying to make inroads into the gaming world.

The streamer has since offered a growing selection of mobile games, such as GTA: San Andreas and titles based on Black Mirror and Squid Game. Not everyone is thrilled about this.

Enough Is Enough

On Reddit, a user expressed frustration: "I open my Netflix app and see nothing but banners for their ridiculous mobile games. I want to watch movies and shows, not play silly games. Can I please remove this junk from my sight?" Many other subscribers agreed.

The revamped user interface (also rolled out on consoles) is causing frustration as well. Users report that the larger tiles and altered layout make it harder to browse the library.

Criticism

As a result, there has been much criticism. Various subscribers say they have given it a chance but do not understand why there isn't simply an option to revert to the former interface.

This criticism has reached Netflix. They defended the changes in a statement on Tudum, claiming it is now simpler and easier, but whether this is sufficient to soothe the growing number of angry users remains to be seen.
