LEGO Unveils The Pricey New 'Star Wars' Set In The Ultimate Collector Series

This newly released set features the iconic AT-ST walker from Star Wars, appealing to collectors and fans alike.

LEGO has unveiled a new set within the popular Ultimate Collector Series, aimed at fans of Star Wars and its well-known ships and vehicles. The set, LEGO Star Wars 75417 AT-ST, will soon be available.

The set consists of 1513 pieces, bringing the price per piece to about 13.2 cents. With a height of 37 centimeters and a width and length of 22 centimeters, this model is clearly designed for display in a showcase.

Iconic Vehicle

The AT-ST, also known as the 'chicken walker,' first appeared in The Empire Strikes Back and played a prominent role in the battle of Endor in Return of the Jedi. With this Ultimate Collector Series edition, LEGO brings a detailed interpretation of the bipedal combat vehicle from a "galaxy, far, far away."

The model features a rotating cockpit, an opening hatch that grants access to an interior with two visible seats, realistic viewing slits, and adjustable laser cannons. An included information plaque and a minifigure of an AT-ST pilot, complete with printed arms and a blaster, round out the set.

Collector's Item For Ages 18+

LEGO is clearly targeting an older demographic with this release. The recommended age is 18+, making the design intended as a collector's item. The set will be exclusively available from August 1st via the official LEGO Shop, with a price tag of nearly 200 dollars.

Netflix Faces Subscriber Outrage: "Remove This Junk"

Netflix is facing criticism for its recent changes, as users express their dissatisfaction with the interface and gaming focus.

While Netflix is the largest streaming service available, there are points of criticism. The streaming giant has recently come under scrutiny due to updates, and many users have clearly expressed their displeasure.

It turns out that numerous subscribers believe that two key features should be completely removed from the platform. What started as a small debate on social media has now erupted into a bit of a digital rebellion.

What Needs To Change

Many Netflix members have set their sights on two elements they dislike: the new user interface and Netflix's increasing focus on games. Since 2021, Netflix has been trying to make inroads into the gaming world.

The streamer has since offered a growing selection of mobile games, such as GTA: San Andreas and titles based on Black Mirror and Squid Game. Not everyone is thrilled about this.

Enough Is Enough

On Reddit, a user expressed frustration: "I open my Netflix app and see nothing but banners for their ridiculous mobile games. I want to watch movies and shows, not play silly games. Can I please remove this junk from my sight?" Many other subscribers agreed.

The revamped user interface (also rolled out on consoles) is causing frustration as well. Users report that the larger tiles and altered layout make it harder to browse the library.

Criticism

As a result, there has been much criticism. Various subscribers say they have given it a chance but do not understand why there isn't simply an option to revert to the former interface.

This criticism has reached Netflix. They defended the changes in a statement on Tudum, claiming it is now simpler and easier, but whether this is sufficient to soothe the growing number of angry users remains to be seen.

The Myth Of 'Squid Game', Is It Really Based On True Events?

The series 'Squid Game' intricately blends fiction with real-life social issues, creating a thought-provoking narrative.

The story of Squid Game has raised questions about its reality since the first episode. After the second season, online images emerged of supposedly real locations that closely resembled the surreal game environments from the series. Season 3 also features references to actual suffering. But is Squid Game indeed based on true events, or is this mainly a persistent myth?

A notable element in the discussion is the link to the notorious Brothers Home in Busan, an internment camp where thousands of South Koreans were held under dire conditions from 1975 to 1987. According to witnesses, victims wore tracksuits and numbers instead of names; a chilling similarity to the players in Squid Game. The tales of torture and forced labor presented as 'game rules' keep this association alive.

Ssangyong

The creator of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk, denies any direct link with Brothers Home and instead refers to the drama at automaker Ssangyong in 2009. There, hundreds of people lost their jobs, leading to dozens of suicides. This crisis, according to Hwang, is the true core of his series: how far will someone go to escape debt and misery?

In the series, the protagonist Seong Gi-hun is fired from a company called Dragon Motors, which clearly alludes to Ssangyong (literally: twin dragon). It illustrates how fiction and reality constantly intertwine in Squid Game. While the deadly games may be fictional, the social and economic tensions underlying them certainly are not.

Anyone looking to watch all three seasons can do so on Netflix.
