The New 'Vikings' Is Here: Soon Everyone Will Be Talking About 'King & Conqueror'

The new historical drama series King & Conqueror promises to be the television spectacle of the autumn. With a cast full of famous names and a story set in the Middle Ages, this series will undoubtedly attract many viewers. What should you know about the series before watching?

King & Conqueror is set in 11th-century England and follows the conflict between Harold Godwinson, the king of England, and William of Normandy, who claims the throne. The series culminates in the famous Battle of Hastings in 1066, a moment that would forever change the course of British history.

Big Names


The series was developed by Michael Robert Johnson, who previously worked on the 2009 film Sherlock Holmes. The first episodes are directed by Baltasar Kormákur, known for Everest and the Icelandic series Trapped. Actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau not only stars but also serves as an executive producer and directs one episode himself.

James Norton plays Harold Godwinson and is known for Happy Valley and Grantchester. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, famous for his role as Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, plays William the Conqueror. Other significant roles include Clémence Poésy, Emily Beecham, Luther Ford, and Ingvar Sigurdsson.
