15 Years After The Colossal Hit Series 'Spartacus' Returns With A Monstrous New Season
'Spartacus: House of Ashur' will premiere this winter on Starz, bringing back beloved characters and introducing new ones.
The Spartacus franchise takes a new turn with the upcoming series Spartacus: House of Ashur. Streaming service Starz has released the first trailer for this sequel to the original hit series.
In this spin-off, the story revolves around Ashur, played by Nick Tarabay, who surprisingly is still alive after the events atop Vesuvius in Spartacus: Vengeance, the second season of the earlier Spartacus series that started in 2010. His loyalty to the Romans is rewarded with the leadership of the gladiator school of the deceased Batiatus.
The series introduces new characters such as Achillia (Tenika Davis), a female gladiator determined to surpass her male rivals, and Hilara (Jamaica Vaughan), a young maid hopelessly in love with Ashur. Ivana Baquero plays another maid who has feelings for Hilara.
Furthermore, Graham McTavish returns as a gladiator trainer, while Claudia Black portrays a manipulative politician. India Shaw-Smith, Jordi Webber, and Leigh Gill are also part of the cast. Lucy Lawless returns in a guest role as Lucretia.
The new series consists of ten episodes and is once again led by Steven S. DeKnight, who was also in charge of the original Spartacus series. Below is the first teaser, and Spartacus: House of Ashur will launch on Starz in late 2025.
