Thanos Returns To Disney+ With Plenty Of Violence: That Disney Would Allow This...
The new animated series 'Marvel Zombies' dives into a dark and daring storyline within the Marvel universe that fans won't want to miss.
Marvel fans, take note: Thanos is back, and this time with more violence than we ever expected from Disney+. The new animated series Marvel Zombies takes a bold step within the Marvel universe, featuring a grim story where heroes and villains are turned into the undead. That Disney, known for its family-friendly content, dares to launch this series makes it even more noteworthy.
The series is set in an alternate reality where the Avengers have been transformed into undead beings by a devastating zombie virus. As Earth's mightiest heroes morph into undead monsters, the future of humanity rests in the hands of a small group of survivors. Their daunting task is to find the key to stop this plague while facing superpowers that now side with the dead.
Behind this project is Bryan Andrews, known from What If...?, who takes on the direction and showrunner role once again. Together with writer and producer Zeb Wells, who previously worked on She-Hulk and Deadpool & Wolverine, a dark tone is set that we don't often see within the MCU. Familiar voices return, including Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan.
Season 1 of Marvel Zombies shows how the zombie virus turns everything upside down. The series highlights not only brutal fights with undead superheroes but also the moral dilemmas faced by the survivors. As Andrews noted earlier: “We didn’t just want to create a horror story, but a nightmare that also evokes emotion.”
The second part Goes even further. Fans can prepare for bloody confrontations with zombie versions of iconic heroes and villains. Thanos, who previously made half the universe disappear, returns, this time as a monster that sows fear even in the realm of the dead.
Marvel Zombies consists of four episodes and premieres exclusively on Disney+ on September 24, 2025. With just four episodes and a story that grabs you from the start, it promises to be a fast-paced, intense viewing experience.
