"Fly Or Die": This Book Has Been On The Bestseller List For 88 Weeks, And Now This Amazing Fantasy Story Is Coming To Prime Video
Amazon MGM Studios is adapting the fantasy novel 'Fourth Wing' with Meredith Averill as the showrunner and executive producer.
The popular fantasy novel Fourth Wing is set to be adapted into a film. Amazon MGM Studios is in the final stages of negotiations with Meredith Averill, who was previously involved with the second season of Wednesday. She is expected to take on the role of showrunner and executive producer.
Averill will follow in the footsteps of Moira Walley-Beckett, who left the project in June after being appointed over a year ago. Among others, WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer spoke with the studio, but Averill seems to be the final choice. The series is also being developed by Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society.
Fourth Wing is the first installment of The Empyrean, a series of five books by author Rebecca Yarros. The series also includes Iron Flame and Onyx Storm. The story revolves around Violet Sorrengail, a twenty-year-old who should have become a writer, but is forced by her mother, a general in the Navarre army, to join the notorious Basgiath War College. There, students must prove themselves as dragon riders, with the harsh rule: fly or die.
The first book is a massive sales success. Fourth Wing has been on the New York Times bestseller list for 88 consecutive weeks, including 18 weeks at number one. This has turned the title into a global phenomenon and one of the most discussed fantasy series in recent years.
Averill brings extensive experience. She previously worked as co-showrunner on the Netflix series Locke & Key, produced The Haunting of Hill House, and was the creator of Star-Crossed. Her involvement is seen as a crucial step towards making the television adaptation of Yarros' work successful. We can’t wait to see this unfold in the near future.
