The Reason Why These Two Top Actors Were Forbidden To Kiss In The Netflix Film 'The Union'
Director Julian Farino hopes that a sequel might happen one day, but the chance seems slim considering the current circumstances.
Netflix can actually land big names for every blockbuster. Last year was certainly no different with The Union, a romantic action film featuring Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry. However, something strange happened here.
In the film, the two actors play a (former) couple. Wahlberg portrays Mike, a construction worker leading a quiet life in Jersey. However, his life is turned upside down when his ex-girlfriend Roxanne suddenly shows up on his doorstep.
Roxanne has returned for a good reason. She needs Mike for a life-threatening mission where a lot is at stake. Unbeknownst to Mike, he suddenly finds himself in a world filled with spies and secret agents.
This is not the first time the streaming giant has presented us with this kind of film, but many subscribers expected something different. Throughout the story, the two grow closer to each other, but they never share an intimate moment or even a kiss.
The film's director, Julian Farino, was asked about this. It turns out he intentionally avoided it: "I had already thought that this would be brought up, but it was not an easy choice".
"We had long and intense discussions about it. We thought it would be best to build something and pick up the thread in the next installment. Netflix was indeed interested in a trilogy". However, we haven't heard anything about this for some time now, so the chances seem quite slim that it will happen.
