'Avatar' Director James Cameron Recommends This Netflix Film From 2025: "Really Demands Your Attention"
The filmmaker expresses incredible concerns about streaming services, yet this film stands out for him notably.
It will probably not surprise anyone that James Cameron is not a fan of streaming services. The Avatar filmmaker is known for his commitment to massive spectacles that you must see in the theater, and he greatly cherishes that cinema experience.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, he elaborates on this but also mentions that there are films on streaming he appreciates. He cites one example that might surprise you.
"You see more and more people just settling for the habit of watching whatever their streaming service offers," says Cameron. "I'm afraid cinema as we know it will disappear."
He explains that for him, films "provide an uninterrupted experience, an adventure. At home, you can watch a film and pause it, go to the bathroom, order pizza [and so on], but there are certain films that really demand your attention, and those are the kinds of films I love to make."
When asked if Cameron has seen anything recently that fits his criteria, he answers positively. "I don't know if it exactly falls into that category," he says, "but I really enjoyed KPop Demon Hunters. It’s quite a good film!"
KPop Demon Hunters debuted earlier this year on Netflix. It is an animated film about a group of pop stars hunting demons. The film took over global Top 10 lists and was viewed over 325 million times.
