One source indicated that filming would commence this month, while another source claimed that the film had been paused due to budgetary issues.

Bad News

Now we have more clarity, as it seems Warner Bros. has removed the movie from its schedule. It indeed revolves around budget disputes. According to Hollywood insider Matthew Belloni (via Puck), Cruise asked for $275 million to make the film. However, the studio found this too high and was unwilling to go above $230 million.

They could not reach a compromise, and now the question remains whether the film will even be made at all. According to Belloni, director Doug Liman (Road House) is already searching for other projects.

Story

Deeper will revolve around a failed astronaut (Cruise) who encounters supernatural forces at the bottom of the ocean.

Liam Neeson has expressed his views on the chance of a sequel to the new Naked Gun film. The classic, which began with the comedy series Police Squad! in 1982 and later had three feature films with Leslie Nielsen as the bumbling detective Frank Drebin, returned this year in a reboot.

In this new version, Neeson plays the role of Frank Drebin Jr., son of Nielsen's character. Pamela Anderson plays Beth Davenport, the sister of a man whose murder Drebin is trying to solve.

Strong Start For The Reboot

In an interview with Newsweek, Neeson indicated that fans should probably not expect a new chapter. "I think it's a one-time thing. If it succeeds, great," the actor said. He added that it was a fantastic experience to work with the cast, including Danny Huston, but he has no plans to reprise the role.

The return of Naked Gun has been met with remarkably positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film scored a Certified Fresh 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, higher than the original from 1988 (88%). It has also performed reasonably well at the box office, with an opening weekend of $16.8 million and a worldwide gross of over $38 million, putting the production on track to recoup its estimated $42 million budget.

Future Of The Franchise Remains Uncertain

It is striking that Neeson believes it will stay as a single film, given the commercial and critical success. Studios would typically be inclined to capitalize on such positive reception and move forward with a sequel.



A possible explanation could be that Neeson wants to pursue other projects at this stage in his career. Nonetheless, the door remains slightly open for fans of the genre. The original Naked Gun films were known for their physical humor, puns, and absurd situations, something that is seen less frequently in today’s film world.

Fans of Wednesday on Netflix are in for a treat. The second season of the fantasy series is dominating the Netflix Top 10, and the reception is even better than that of season 1.

Wednesday, written and directed under the guidance of Tim Burton, is described by Netflix using words like Chilling, Imaginative, and Dark comedy. The main roles are played by Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Emma Myers, and Christina Ricci.

Strong Reception & Record-Breaking Viewership

Season 1 was a massive success: in the first 91 days, the series attracted no less than 252.1 million viewers and spent 20 weeks in the Global Top 10; in 93 countries, the debut season reached the Top 10. The criticism of season 2 is predominantly positive: the Rotten Tomatoes score rose from 73% for season 1 to 82% for season 2.

The Critics Consensus on Rotten Tomatoes states that the season has "a clever approach" by "showing more of the entire Addams clan". Jenna Ortega and Burton's visual style, in particular, are praised.

However, not everyone is positive. "The absent attention to detail beyond what’s stylish, combined with the neat-and-tidy aesthetic mandated for broadly appealing teen dramas, puts the focus back on what Season 2 is trying to say, which isn’t much," says Ben Travers of IndieWire. A new trailer is available for the film Traumatika, a horror movie directed by French director Pierre Tsigaridis. It is clearly not a big production, but it has received strong feedback and the trailer is effectively frightening. Note: the imagery is imaginative yet intense.

In the film, Mikey's nightmares become real when his mother begins to show signs of demonic possession. What he undergoes will haunt him for the rest of his life and claim countless lives for generations.

Reception

On Rotten Tomatoes, there are eleven reviews, and the Tomatometer stands at a decent 82 percent. This means that only two reviewers consider the film 'rotten'.

"It’s not an easy film to watch. But I think Traumatika performs excellently overall: it delivers expected jump scares while also leaving thought-provoking material for those who are willing to engage," says Dan Tabor from Cinapse.

In The US

The film appears to have been completed in 2024 and will be released in the United States starting on September 12 in theaters, presumably in a limited capacity.
