Crazy Trailer For 'The Running Man': Edgar Wright's New Hit?

Glen Powell, in the role of Ben Richards, faces immense challenges as he fights for survival in a deadly game.

After a first teaser last night, the full trailer for The Running Man has finally arrived. Edgar Wright's new film is an adaptation of the novel by Stephen King.

That book was initially turned into a movie in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. At that time, the film received much criticism for deviating significantly from the original story. However, if the trailer is any indication, that may not be the case this time.

Story

The Running Man is set in a near future. Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is an unemployed man desperate to find medicine for his daughter.

In a bid to secure medical supplies, he signs up for the Running Man, a game show where participants are hunted by assassins. They have 30 days to survive, and if they win, they receive a huge cash prize. But this game might be rigged.

Check out the trailer below. The Running Man also features roles for Josh Brolin, Colman Domingo, Katy O'Brian, Michael Cera, and more. The film hits theaters on November 7.

Revelation 'Squid Game': Secrect About Shocking Decision In Season 3 Revealed

The third season of 'Squid Game' concludes with a powerful finale, showcasing profound transformation and choices.

Warning! The article below may contain spoilers.
After a season filled with tension, loss, and sacrifice, Squid Game season 3 ends with a surprising and emotional twist for Pink Guard 011, played by Park Gyu-young. Her character takes a dramatic turn in the finale as she makes a risky decision that will alter her own future as well as that of others.

In the third season, the story significantly revolves around the internal conflict of Kang No-eul, or Pink Guard 011. Once a soldier in the North Korean army, she joins the organizers of the deadly game hoping to earn money to find her abandoned daughter. Her connection with player 246, Gyeong-seok, a father competing to save his sick daughter, ultimately leads her to rebel against the system.

A chance at life

In an interview with Netflix, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed why No-eul ultimately decided to leave the games behind. “She had almost completely lost her inner light. But a glimmer of hope and the urge to live awaken within her once again,” he said. According to Hwang, Gi-hun's ultimate act of self-sacrifice in the ‘Sky Game’ was the final straw that convinced her to give life another chance.

The series depicts No-eul being deeply affected as she reads in the archive that her husband and daughter may have died. However, Gi-hun restored her hope: “I wanted to show how she rises again, rekindles her will to live, and tries to embrace life anew,” Hwang stated.

Meaningful choice

Though the finale does not confirm whether No-eul actually finds her daughter, it does show how she releases her guilt. By undermining the system and saving someone, she discovers meaning in her choices.

Squid Game season 3 has been streaming on Netflix since June 27. The series consists of six episodes, but it is still unclear whether there will be a fourth season or even a possible spin-off.

This Marvel Star Is Still Getting Paid For A Role He Never Played

The actor continues to receive royalty checks for a role he never acted in, showcasing the unusual nature of Hollywood contracts and auditions.

Sam Rockwell (Iron Man) hasn’t had to audition for his roles in quite a while. However, one audition has yielded unexpected financial rewards. He is still being paid for one role that he never actually played.

The Oscar winner shared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he auditioned for the film Lean on Me, which starred Morgan Freeman in the lead role. He rode in a van with Michael Imperioli (Goodfellas) and Kevin Corrigan (Superbad) to the audition for just one line.

Profitable Audition

The role was intended for Rockwell, but he revealed on the podcast that it never progressed: "They never got to my scene when they filmed," he said. "So they had to let me go because they didn’t want to pay me for a whole week." Eventually, the role went to an acquaintance of his, but he disclosed that he still receives royalty checks.

Imperioli later took the role, but his scene also didn’t make the final cut of the movie. Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time that Rockwell and Imperioli competed for the same role. He recounted how he was later called for a part in Celebrity in 1998, which starred Judy Davis and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Woody's Demand

For the film, Woody Allen wanted Rockwell to dye his hair blonde, which he refused to do since he only had a few lines. The production team informed him that Imperioli had to cancel his audition because he could no longer attend. Ultimately, Rockwell relented and dyed his hair blonde after all.

In retrospect, Imperioli made the right choice by going to the pilot shoot for The Sopranos. The series ended up running for eight seasons and won multiple Emmy awards.
