The Fourth 'Spider-Man' Does Something The Marvel Cinematic Universe Seems To Spoil

In an exciting twist, Tom Holland shares that the upcoming Spider-Man film will embrace a more traditional filmmaking approach, moving away from reliance on green screens and CGI effects.

After the immense success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the future of the franchise was uncertain for a moment, but the decision has been made: Tom Holland is officially returning as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and he has some thoughts to share about it.

Holland has not been idle. Recently, he worked on Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (which he has recently commented on), but now he steps back into the shoes of the world-famous superhero. Filming is set to start in a few weeks, and the lead actor has come forward with good news.

Returning To The Roots

During a recent interview, Holland revealed that the new Marvel blockbuster will rely much less on green screens and CGI: "We're really going back to 'old school' filmmaking. We're not going to be stuck on a set all the time."

"We’re returning to real locations, which feels very good to me. We'll be filming a lot in Glasgow, where a big action scene will take place. It is truly an honor to play Spider-Man again. It’s like getting to spend time with my best friend again."

Less Zendaya

Although Zendaya is also returning as MJ, her role will be limited this time. This is mainly due to her busy schedule. She has just wrapped filming for The Odyssey, but will soon be flying to Bulgaria for Dune: Part Three.

This means that her contribution in the new Spider-Man will likely be limited to a few scenes. With a new director at the helm, Destin Daniel Cretton (known for Shang-Chi), Brand New Day seems to be positioning itself as a fresh restart.
