These Five Successful Series Are Returning This Fall With A New Season

In the upcoming four months, audiences can look forward to these five successful series returning with exciting new seasons.

There are only four months left in 2025 before the year comes to an end. This year has already seen numerous wonderful series return, including the recent second season of Wednesday. However, there are still several successful series set to return with new seasons in the next four months. Here are five of them.

The Diplomat

The Diplomat was created by Debora Cahn and premiered in 2023. The series stars Keri Russell as an experienced American diplomat who is unexpectedly appointed as ambassador to the United Kingdom amid a developing international crisis.

The series received rave reviews and is praised for its nuanced portrayal of foreign politics and the often invisible work of diplomacy, as well as its character-driven narrative that combines political intrigue with personal drama. The third season will be available on Netflix starting October 16. The series has also been renewed for a fourth season.

Nobody Wants This

There are several series whose second season is yet to be released in the upcoming months. One of them is Nobody Wants This, which is returning for a second season on Netflix. The series premiered last year and was positively received.

Nobody Wants This was created by Erin Foster and stars Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, and Timothy Simons in leading roles. The story revolves around the unlikely relationship between an outspoken agnostic woman and an unconventional rabbi. Season two will premiere on October 23 on Netflix.

Percy Jackson

Not only on Netflix, but also on Disney+, a popular series is returning with its second season. This is Percy Jackson And The Olympians, the fantasy series created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, based on Riordan's book series of the same name.

Walker Scobell plays the role of Percy Jackson, joined by Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. While the first season adapted The Lightning Thief, season two will adapt The Sea of Monsters. The second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will premiere on Disney+ on December 10. The series has already been renewed for a third season, which will adapt The Titan's Curse.

Fallout

One of the best video game adaptations is also set to return with a second season by the end of this year. Fallout, based on the namesake role-playing video game series by Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, was one of the standout series of 2024 and was a major success. The series was quickly renewed for a second season, which will premiere on December 17 on Prime Video.

Fallout was created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, featuring Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Walton Goggins in the leading roles. In season two, we once again follow Lucy as she travels to New Vegas with Cooper to uncover the truth about her father and Vault-Tec, while Maximus prepares for war. Fallout has also been renewed for a third season.

Long-Awaited Final Season

In 2025, we will be able to end the year beautifully with the series finale of Stranger Things. After a long wait (season four aired in 2022), the fifth and final season of the series is finally set to premiere. Stranger Things was created by the Duffer Brothers and is considered one of the greatest series of all time.

Like the previous season, season five will be released in several parts. The first four episodes will be available on November 26, the next three episodes on December 25, and the very last episode will premiere on December 31, all on Netflix.

"This Is Better Than Game Of Thrones", Apple TV+ Dazzles With This Epic Series

The series "Chief of War" masterfully combines a historical power struggle with stunning visual recreations of Hawaiian kingdoms, captivating viewers with its rich storytelling and production quality.

The Apple TV+ series Chief of War is set in a time when power struggles and political alliances were crucial to the future of Hawaiian kingdoms. The show engages viewers not only through its intrigue and battles but also through the stunning visual portrayal of its world. Behind this approach lies a comprehensive process.

Production designer Jean-Fran9ois Campeau was tasked with distinguishing the various kingdoms and cultures of Hawaii and beyond. As many available sources are heavily European-oriented, his team had to be resourceful. They notably reconstructed boats and collaborated with local artists to create believable textures and details for temples and homes. Each island was given recognizable geographical features to visually clarify the political differences.

Fire As A Dramatic Weapon

However, the series sometimes focuses not on building, but on destruction. For instance, we see a slave complex and food supplies engulfed in flames. Campeau explains that some sets were deliberately built to burn in a controlled manner, with VFX enhancing the scenes.

Campeau, who spoke with IndieWire, designed the city of Zamboanga to be suffocating and oppressive, making the Spanish domination palpable in the architectural style. This contrasts sharply with Hawaii’s open and lush landscapes, emphasizing the different power dynamics and foreshadowing the changes the islands are about to face.

Visual Identity Of The Islands

For the storyline, it was crucial that each faction and island had its own visual identity. O'ahu, Maui, and Hawaii were each characterized by a notable landmark that underlined their role in the geopolitical landscape. For instance, Kamehameha's power was linked to vast green plains and imposing cliffs, making it all the more poignant when everything in that environment goes up in flames.

"Forget dragons, this is better than Game of Thrones," someone remarked on set, to highlight that the authenticity and rawness of Chief of War has more impact than any fantasy epic.
