'Star Wars' Fans Aren't Impressed By New Film Trailer: "Looks Like A TV Episode"

Jon Favreau's film is set to be released in theaters in May 2026, which fans eagerly anticipate despite recent criticisms.

This week the official trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu was finally released online. You would think this is a significant moment since it's the first Star Wars film since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019.

However, many fans are not impressed. Under the trailer and on social media, you'll find several negative responses. Some are questioning what separates the film from the series it is based on, The Mandalorian on Disney+.

Reactions

Even Hollywood insiders are expressing negative opinions on X. For instance, scooper @DanielRPK writes: "This trailer feels like the film is just a filler episode of the TV series. Even visually, it doesn't seem an improvement."

User @MyTimeToShineHello chimes in: "Terrible trailer, by the way. Honestly, I'm shocked. It feels like a long episode of the TV series, and not a good one."

The Mandalorian & Grogu follows the third season of the series and chronicles the adventures of the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and his young ward Grogu. The film, directed by Jon Favreau, hits theaters in May.

Netflix Triggers Subscriber Outrage: "I'm Going To Cancel My Subscription"

In America, '28 Years Later' is already available, but only for certain users of the streaming service.

Netflix adds a variety of films and series every month, but the arrival of 28 Years Later in the United States has turned out to be quite different than expected. Millions of subscribers encountered an unwelcome surprise.

Despite the horror film being released not too long ago, the streaming giant managed to secure the rights. Good news for Netflix subscribers, but it seems things are not quite as they seem.

Limited Availability

The sequel to Danny Boyle's classic 28 Days Later received rave reviews this year and holds an 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The title isn't widely available to stream yet, and even on Netflix, it's not straightforward.

Although the streaming service announced the arrival of 28 Years Later with much fanfare, viewers with the cheaper subscription are unable to watch the film. For them, only a lock icon appears next to the title.

New Controversy

Fans made their displeasure known on social media. One subscriber wrote: "They must be joking, right? This was the reason I canceled my membership. How many more people will leave Netflix because of this?" The internet is now flooded with such responses.

The policy strikes a sensitive chord. Streaming started as a cheaper, ad-free alternative to satellite and cable, but angry users now feel as though the circle has come full circle: "Streaming platforms are turning into the new satellite. Before you know it, people will just go back..." said another user.
