One Of The Darkest Films Of 2026 Gets An Exciting Trailer: And Many People Want To See It

"Return to Silent Hill" could very well become the first truly successful film in this video game series.

Next year, one of the most iconic horror franchises returns to the big screen. Return to Silent Hill, directed by Christophe Gans, aims to finally deliver a strong adaptation of the infamous video game classic. Does the new trailer below convince you?

The games that the film is based on have been among the most popular horror games in the world for years, but previous film adaptations (including Gans' own version from 2006) never became true blockbusters. However, the trailer for the new film is receiving notably positive reception.

Different Approach

The franchise is known for its psychological horror, suffocating atmosphere, and nightmarish visuals. According to Gans, this is exactly what he wants to embrace much more strongly with this new film. He himself states: "It will be a truer adaptation of 'Silent Hill 2', with practical effects and a focus on emotional horror".

The film follows the main character, James Sunderland, played by Jeremy Irvine, who returns to the mysterious town of Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his deceased loved one, Mary. His quest for answers leads him through grotesque monsters and the dark side of his own psyche.

Another key role is played by Hannah Emily Anderson. She takes on a new interpretation of Mary, who plays a critical role in James' personal nightmare. The iconic antagonist Pyramid Head makes his appearance once again. Watch the footage below.

Completely Overwhelming And Bizarre Viewing Experience; This Netflix Series Breaks All Viewership Records: 59.6 Million Streams In One Week

Stranger Things 5 breaks viewership records with an astonishing 59.6 million streams in its first week.

The return of Stranger Things has completely shaken up Netflix globally. With the fifth season, the series immediately breaks multiple viewership records. The first four episodes were released online on November 26 and garnered 59.6 million global streams within just one week. This marks the highest viewed premiere week ever for an English-language Netflix series. Only Squid Game season 2 has performed better previously.

Notably, it’s not just the new season that is scoring high. All four previous seasons of Stranger Things also re-entered the global top 10 simultaneously. Since its debut in 2016, the series has been viewed a total of 1.2 billion times according to Netflix. The choice of release date and time, a Wednesday evening instead of the usual late-night Friday slot, gave season 5 some additional head start compared to past hits.

Not A Coincidence

The huge success is not a spontaneous spike, but part of a global campaign. Netflix organized events prior to the release in 28 cities across 21 countries. From a Stranger Things presentation at Lucca ComicCon to a bike ride in Los Angeles with tens of thousands of fans. Even during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the series made an appearance, featuring a Demogorgon on its own float.

The closing party is yet to come. At the end of December, the final episodes of season 5 will be screened in theaters in the US and Canada. This makes the series a rare example of a Netflix production making the leap to the big screen for an official wrap-up. Stranger Things 5 is expected to soon secure a spot on the list of the most popular Netflix series of all time.

Duffer Brothers Respond To Overwhelming Welcome

In a joint statement, Matt and Ross Duffer thank the fans for their loyalty: "We are overwhelmed by the reactions. This means a lot to us, but also to the hundreds of people who have worked on this for years." They also point out the long pause of more than three years since season 4. Nevertheless, the audience has massively returned to Hawkins, which they believe demonstrates how deeply the series is rooted in popular culture.

The Second Season Of This Thriller On Apple TV Is Set To Be Even Grander And More Intense Than The First

Idris Elba returns in an exciting second season of "Hijack" featuring a hostage situation in Berlin.

Following the claustrophobic flight in the first season of Hijack, Idris Elba, as Sam Nelson, faces a life-threatening hostage situation again, this time in a very different environment and with different rules. Apple TV brings the thriller back in January, with a second season that aims to avoid merely repeating past plots.

Starting Wednesday, January 14, 2026, the second season of Hijack will premiere worldwide on Apple TV, kicking off with two episodes and a new installment airing weekly until February 25. This time, it’s not a commercial flight but an underground train in Berlin, where commuters are taken hostage while authorities above ground try to avert a disaster scenario. Sam Nelson is now caught in an urban network rather than a confined aircraft, which expands the threat from a single flight to a whole transportation system.

Plane Traded For Subway

In the first season, all the action took place on a flight from Dubai to London, with the seven episodes roughly following the hijacking in real-time. Season two builds on that pace but shifts the tension to a Berlin subway line, where hundreds of passengers are trapped in tunnels and stations. This new season comprises eight episodes, maintaining the real-time feel but with more shifts between the train itself, the crisis center, and the surrounding city.

Familiar faces return: alongside Idris Elba as Sam Nelson are Christine Adams, Max Beesley, and Archie Panjabi once again on board. Additionally, the ensemble is expanded with names such as Christian Näthe, Clare Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Toby Jones, Karima McAdams, and Christiane Paul, giving the series a stronger European profile that suits the Berlin setting.

Season Two

Season two truly seems set to be larger than the first: the creators opt for different infrastructure, another city, and a greater number of involved parties, while Sam Nelson again plays the negotiator amid panic and order. This way, the core of the series remains intact, but the scale and dynamics of the crisis clearly shifts from the first season!
