Chilling First Trailer For 'Return To Silent Hill' Gives You Goosebumps

After a long wait, the highly anticipated sequel has finally arrived, capturing the essence of the iconic game.

CineVerse, Konami, Bloody Disgusting, and Davis Films have revealed the teaser trailer for the long-awaited horror film Return to Silent Hill.

The film is directly based on the iconic game Silent Hill 2, which is widely regarded as one of the best horror games ever made. The storyline and atmosphere of the game form the core of this new adaptation.

Main Roles And Story

Jeremy Irvine (Treadstone) and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw) star in the leading roles. Irvine plays James, a man emotionally shattered after losing his great love.

James receives a mysterious letter that leads him back to the haunting town of Silent Hill. There, he hopes to find his beloved, but what he encounters is anything but reassuring.

Dark Discoveries

Silent Hill has changed due to a malevolent force. As James descends deeper into darkness, he confronts terrifying creatures, some familiar, others new, and begins to doubt his own sanity.

Christophe Gans, who also directed the original Silent Hill film from 2006, returns to the director's chair. He co-wrote the script with Sandra Vo-Anh and Will Schneider.

Successful Predecessor

The first adaptation from 2006 received positive reviews and grossed over $100 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million. Expectations for this new film are therefore high. Return to Silent Hill is set to hit theaters in January 2026.

This Solid 2025 'Dino-movie For Adults' Scores Better Than Several 'Jurassic Park' Films

‘Primitive War’ is a thrilling blend of dinosaurs and warfare, offering audiences an action-packed experience.

From the relatively unknown Australian filmmaker Luke Sparke, known for titles such as Occupation and Occupation: Rainfall, comes the R-rated dinosaur film Primitive War. The film is based on the book of the same name by Ethan Pettus. Despite mixed reviews from critics, it has performed well with audiences, boasting a Popcornmeter score of no less than 90 percent. Many Jurassic Park/World films fail to achieve that score.

In Primitive War, which holds a Tomatometer score of 50 percent, an elite unit of American soldiers is sent on a secret mission into the jungles of Vietnam. They quickly discover that they are not only up against enemy troops but also deadly dinosaurs.

Blood, Tension, And Roaring Action

Sebastian Zavala Kahn from Me gusta el cine calls the film "an exciting, bloody, and action-packed experience with surprisingly good visual effects". According to him, it holds its own even when compared to the Jurassic World franchise. He rates the film 3.5 out of 5.

Simon Foster from Screen-Space writes that Sparke knows exactly what a good B-movie needs. "He delivers an energetic film with a fun cast, including Ryan Kwanten and Jeremy Piven, and visual effects that are worth the price". He also gives it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Dino Violence And War Terror

Jim Schembri describes on his own website how "Primitive War looks like the love child of Platoon and Jurassic Park". He speaks of "chomptastic entertainment with a hefty dose of expertly crafted B-movie chaos". He also awards the film a score of 3.5 out of 5.

Avi Offer from NYC Movie Guru directly compares the film with Jurassic World Rebirth and states that "this B-movie comes off much better than the big studio production". He considers the film to be thrilling overall.

Mixed Reactions

Meagan Navarro from Bloody Disgusting is less enthusiastic. Despite the constant violence and the threat of dinosaurs, she describes the film as "surprisingly lethargic". She notes that the film lacks tension and pace, despite its war scenes and prehistoric action.

The audience seems to be enjoying the film quite a lot. On IMDb, Primitive War is also rated quite well, with a score of 7.0/10.

"Heart Rate Above 200 BPM' In The New Stephen King Film 'The Long Walk'

This new adaptation from Stephen King promises to be a truly chilling experience for viewers. With its intense premise, it raises the stakes for all who dare to watch.

The Long Walk is coming. This is yet another adaptation of one of Stephen King's books, but apparently, this is one of his most gruesome stories. This can also be seen in the video below.

The story is set in the near future in America. The United States has turned into a police state, where each year a major 'competition' takes place. Hundreds of boys are selected to run a unique marathon with deadly consequences...

Creepily Thrilling

There is no clear end; if a participant slows down, they receive a warning. If you completely stop the marathon, you are executed on the spot. The winner is the only one who survives and can make a single wish come true.

Studio Lionsgate conducted a test to see just how thrilling The Long Walk really is. They had a small community watch the film while monitoring their heart rates. The results were quite remarkable.

The Result

Normally, a resting heart beats 70 to 80 times per minute, but the heart rates of the viewers soared above 200 BPM. In the first 20 minutes of the film, the heart rate increased significantly and continued to rise afterward. Watch the 'experiment' below.

This Is Undoubtedly One Of The Most Underrated Sci-fi Films Of The Last 10 Years

Director Jeff Nichols has showcased a different side of his filmmaking with the unique sci-fi thriller 'Midnight Special'.

Director Jeff Nichols made his debut in 2007 with his beloved indie film Shotgun Stories starring Michael Shannon. He followed this with the successful thriller Take Shelter and the hit film Mud featuring Matthew McConaughey. In 2016, Nichols released his most expensive project, but unfortunately, it flopped significantly.

This is the sci-fi thriller Midnight Special featuring Michael Shannon, Adam Driver, Joel Edgerton, and Kirsten Dunst. Undoubtedly, this is one of Nichols' best films, yet it flopped enormously and not many people are still talking about it today.

Story

Alton Meyer (Jaeden Martell) is a boy with bizarre powerful gifts and strange weaknesses. In the middle of the night, his father, Roy (Shannon), kidnaps him from the isolated cult that practically worships him and is determined to win him back at any cost.

At the same time, Alton's gifts have been noticed by the U.S. government. Paul Sevier (Driver) from the National Security Agency is leading the federal pursuit of Alton and has his own motives. These rival hunting parties force father and son into a desperate race that could change everything.

Low Budget, Yet A Flop

Midnight Special had a reasonably low budget of 18 million dollars and received rave reviews. The consensus on Rotten Tomatoes states: "The intriguing mysteries in Midnight Special may not be understood by everyone, but the journey is ambitious, entertaining, and wonderfully acted."

Unfortunately, the film only grossed 7 million dollars at the global box office, making it the biggest flop of Nichols' career.

Next Project

Fortunately, the failure of Midnight Special did not put an end to Nichols' career. He released the film Loving in the same year as Midnight Special and last year the well-received The Bikeriders hit theaters. It seems we won't have to wait long for his next project: Land of Opportunity.

In the early 2010s, Nichols sold a script of Land of Opportunity to HBO for a series. It would be a "dystopian tale" set in Arkansas about a new Great Depression where oil runs out and the dollar collapses. However, HBO decided not to proceed with the project, and Nichols has now turned it into a feature film starring Brad Pitt.

This Series Aims To Challenge 'Game Of Thrones', 'King & Conqueror' Premieres On HBO Max And Gets Harshly Criticized By The British Press

Starting tomorrow, HBO Max presents a gripping series called King & Conqueror about the Battle of Hastings that you won't want to miss.

Starting this week, HBO Max will showcase the new historical series King & Conqueror. This series tells the story of the Battle of Hastings (1066), featuring James Norton as Harold Godwinson and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as William the Conqueror. This is one of the most pivotal moments in British history and is given a grand television platform in this production.

The series follows how rival kingdoms merge, how political tensions escalate, and how two men, Harold and William, are inevitably on a collision course leading to the battle that forever changed the Middle Ages in England. With well-known names in the lead roles, James Norton and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and a classic historical theme, King & Conqueror has been heavily hyped in the lead-up to its debut.

A Grim Drama

However, not everyone is as excited about the end result. British media describe the series as visually hard to follow, as many scenes are so darkly filmed that details are lost. This production follows a trend of recent BBC dramas that use natural lighting, but this doesn’t always translate well to TV screens or laptops.

Additionally, criticism arises that the world of King & Conqueror looks limited and cheap. The set largely consists of roads, tents, and huts, while the historical context is only briefly explained. This lack of grandeur detracts from a story about the Norman conquest that one would expect. The characters also reportedly lack depth, limiting the emotional impact.

Between History And Fiction

While the series is based on historical events, the creators take creative liberties. Intrigues, dialogues, and political games feel more like a modern fantasy series than sources from the eleventh century. For viewers who enjoy darker, serious narratives, King & Conqueror offers an intense look at a defining chapter in British history. But whether it will leave a lasting impression remains to be seen according to critics.

'Sisu' Is Back! Intense Wartime Violence In The Trailer For 'Sisu: Road To Revenge'

In 2022, 'Sisu' shocked audiences with its intense WWII action. Now, a fierce new enemy awaits our hero's return.

The first trailer for Sisu: Road to Revenge is now online. Once again, we can expect complete chaos from 'the man who refuses to die'. The film is, of course, the sequel to the already brutal Sisu.

Finnish actor Jorma Tommila returns as the silent warrior Aatami. This time, his character faces new enemies when he returns to his remote home, where his family was killed during the war.

Ironclad First Part

The first film was released in 2022 and received stellar reviews. On the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer, it boasts a magnificent 94 percent. The audience is also thrilled with all the insanity in the film, with a popcorn score of 88 percent.

"The man is like a masked serial killer in a slasher film: unstoppable. Including that element of invulnerability, regardless of what is done to him. Sometimes it even goes a bit too far," says Terence Shea in his review for FilmTotaal.

Red Army

The direction is once again in the hands of Jalmari Helander. In the new film, we also see Stephen Lang (Avatar, Don't Breathe), as a commander of the Red Army. Coming to theaters in November.

Ambitious Project Flops Massively: Netflix's Own 'Yellowstone' Canceled After One Season

Netflix has decided to cancel its drama series The Waterfront after just one season due to lack of viewer interest.

What began as an ambitious attempt to ride the coattails of Yellowstone's success, ends after barely one season. Netflix has opted not to continue The Waterfront, the drama series from writer Kevin Williamson.

When the first trailer was released in May 2025, it was immediately noticeable how strongly the series resembled the universe of Taylor Sheridan. Williamson, known for Scream, The Vampire Diaries, and Dawson's Creek, aimed for a family epic that was supposed to have similar appeal. Yet, the impact was lacking, and now Netflix is pulling the plug early.

End After Eight Episodes

The Waterfront premiered on June 19, 2025, achieving an IMDb rating of 7.0. Although reviews were fairly positive, viewer interest was insufficient for a second season. The first run of eight episodes concluded the main storyline but also hinted at new problems that will never be resolved.

Central to the story was the Buckley family, a powerful presence in the fictional coastal town of Havenport's fishing and hospitality industries for generations. When patriarch Harlan Buckley, played by Holt McCallany, returns after two heart attacks, he tries to save his family business. His wife Belle (Maria Bello) and son Cane (Jake Weary) take steps, but mainly cause new crises.

Not A Rival To Yellowstone

While Yellowstone now boasts several spin-offs and attracts a large audience, The Waterfront is already a thing of the past. The attempt to establish a similar family conflict in a different setting did not yield the hoped-for franchise. For viewers, only one completed season remains available.
