Absolute Hit On Netflix: One Day Online And Already The Most Watched Film Worldwide!

Netflix launches a romcom about a dating show set in the 'wrong' Paris, featuring unexpected twists and turns.

A reality show in Paris sounds like a dream come true for any romantic contender. But what if that Paris turns out to be in Texas instead of by the Seine? This concept forms the basis for a new romcom that Netflix just launched. The streaming service released The Wrong Paris on September 12. The leading roles are played by Miranda Cosgrove and Pierson Fodé.

The story follows a young woman (Cosgrove) who signs up for a dating show assuming it takes place in Paris, France. To her surprise, she discovers that the set is located in the town of the same name in Texas. She decides to do everything she can to slim down before the show, but her strategy gets complicated when she develops feelings for the bachelor.

Who?

The film was written by Nicole Henrich and directed by Janeen Damian. In addition to Cosgrove and Fodé, the cast includes Madison Pettis, Madeleine Arthur, Frances Fisher, Yvonne Orji, and Torrance Coombs. Hannah Stocking and Emilija Baranac also make appearances.

The Wrong Paris was produced by Brad Krevoy and Michael Damian. Moreover, Miranda Cosgrove served as an executive producer, alongside Janeen Damian and Kelly Frazier. This romcom fits into the series of feel-good titles Netflix releases around autumn, traditionally a strong period for the genre.

IMDb

Currently, the film has a mediocre score of 6.3 on IMDb, and it should be noted that romcoms rarely receive good ratings from critics.

A New Spin-off Is In The Works, 'The Boys: Mexico'

Prime Video is developing a Mexican spin-off of The Boys that brings a fresh and unexpected tone to the series.

Prime Video is expanding the world of The Boys with a new spin-off set entirely in Mexico. Showrunner Eric Kripke has shared an initial update, emphasizing that the series will differ significantly in style from the original series.

In a chat with Collider, Kripke mentioned that work is currently underway on the pilot episode of The Boys: Mexico. The project is truly fun to create and has a completely different tone than The Boys, he expressed. It takes place in the same world, but feels fresh and surprising. Diego Luna and Gael Garc Bernal are closely involved as producers, which is immensely valuable for us.

New Spin-off In Development

The series is written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, known for Blue Beetle. While details about the story are still missing, it’s clear that production will predominantly take place in Mexico. Kripke emphasized that the quality must align with previous spin-offs, while also allowing for its own direction.

There is speculation that Luna and Bernal, who broke through in 2001 with Y Tu Mam Tambi], may have roles in the series. According to Kripke, those roles won’t be lead roles but rather supporting roles or guest appearances. For now, their involvement is of great importance behind the scenes.

Expansion Of The Universe

The plans for [i]The Boys: Mexico
come at a time when the franchise is thriving. The fifth and final season of The Boys will debut in 2026, while the second season of Gen V premieres on September 17. Additionally, work is also being done on the prequel Vought Rising and the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical. This indicates that Prime Video is far from done with this successful universe for the foreseeable future.

This Movie Is So Disturbing That You Will Never Want To Watch It Again

In this chilling film, the director proves to be an exceptional master of horror storytelling.

The renowned film company A24 is known for its unique and often disturbing take on modern horror. With titles such as Hereditary and The Witch, the studio has built a solid reputation. Yet one title stands out: Midsommar (2019).

In this film, we follow a group of American students traveling to a remote village in Sweden. It begins as an idyllic midsummer experience but quickly turns into a nightmare filled with rituals and secrets. Director Ari Aster immerses the viewer in a world where the sun barely sets.

Characters

The story revolves around Dani, played by Florence Pugh, who has just experienced a family tragedy. Together with her boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor), she ends up in a community that seems to live peacefully. However, when the group witnesses a ritual suicide, it becomes clear that something much darker is at play.

What follows is a slow-building horror experience, where tension and discomfort are ever-present. From bizarre traditions to shocking scenes of violence: Midsommar confronts the viewer with imagery that is hard to forget. It is horror that gradually seeps into your mind.

Intense

Besides its gruesome story, the film contains moments that are downright disturbing. Sexual rituals, graphic sacrifices, and the feeling that everything is just a little too normal make the experience even more frightening. It is the combination of beauty and horror that creates a suffocating effect.

Financially, Midsommar was a success. With a relatively modest budget of 9 million dollars, the film grossed over 48 million worldwide. Yet many viewers describe it as a "one-time experience", too intense to ever want to watch again.

Big Name

Director Ari Aster had already proven himself with Hereditary, but with Midsommar, he firmly established his name as a master of psychological horror. This is a film that does not rely on cheap jump scares but instead evokes deep, existential discomfort.
