Prime Video Pulls The Plug On 'The Boys' Spin-Off Despite 97% On Rotten Tomatoes

The animated series 'The Boys Presents: Diabolical' will not receive a sequel, even though it garnered rave reviews.

With Gen V, the series The Boys has a successful spin-off. However, even before that series premiered, there was the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical. Since its release in 2022, there has been little news regarding the series, and it is now confirmed that Diabolical will not get a second season on Prime Video.

The spin-off of The Boys was launched in 2022 with eight episodes, each showcasing a different story and animation style. Despite boasting a Rotten Tomatoes score of 97 percent and receiving critical acclaim, the series failed to attract enough viewers for a continuation.

No Green Light For Season 2

According to The Boys creator Eric Kripke, in an interview with TheWrap, there were attempts to get a second season off the ground, but the viewership ultimately wasn’t high enough to justify the costs. "I don't think there will be a season 2 of Diabolical. It's not our fault; we tried. But the ratings just weren't there," Kripke stated.

Showrunner Simon Racioppa would be open to a sequel if Prime Video agrees to a new series of episodes. Officially, the streaming service has not labeled the project as "canceled" yet, but Kripke's words indicate that a new season is not forthcoming for now.

Focus On Other The Boys Projects

Instead of a second season of Diabolical, the focus is currently on other live-action branches of the universe. Season 2 of Gen V is nearing completion, The Boys Season 5 is in post-production, filming is underway for the prequel series Vought Rising, and The Boys: Mexico is in development.

The episode "I’m Your Pusher" from Diabolical delivered what fans of the original comics wanted, featuring a visual style that was closer to the source material than the live-action series. Although not all episodes were canon, the finale with Homelander and Black Noir did add depth to the larger story.

A Brutal Four-Year Wait, The Biggest Series On HBO Max Is Finally Coming Back With Its Last Season Soon

The third and final season of the biggest series on HBO Max promises to surpass its earlier seasons in significant ways.

The long-awaited third season of Euphoria is set to be the most mature and ambitious chapter of the series yet. While season two focused on chaos, jealousy, and youthful impulsivity, the new season looks forward. The characters are older, the themes heavier, and the world larger. Sam Levinson opts for innovation over repetition.

The series jumps ahead in time: Rue (Zendaya) and her friends have left high school behind, now grappling with responsibility, identity, and moral choices. According to HBO, this season serves as a conclusion, allowing for closure instead of repetition. "I think viewers will be very satisfied with how everyone's story comes together into a whole," said HBO's drama chief Francesca Orsi earlier this year.

Bigger, Rawer, And With New Faces

The third season introduces eighteen new characters, including Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne, and Eli Roth. Their arrival brings new dynamics and fresh perspectives. The series remains true to its visual style, but the tone becomes more realistic and sharper, shifting focus from teenage drama to adult dilemmas.

Levinson described the new season as "eight films in one". The production received a tax incentive of $19.4 million and was entirely filmed in Los Angeles. The ambition is palpable: more complex storylines, longer scenes, and greater attention to emotional depth. Zendaya and Colman Domingo return to pivotal roles that insiders say will receive a "definitive conclusion."

Why Season Three Surpasses All

With the time jump and mature themes, Euphoria literally grows alongside its characters. The focus shifts from destruction to reflection, without losing the raw realism that made the series so popular. Levinson seems to be delivering his most coherent and powerful season; a conclusion that is not only grander but also more human than ever.

The Latest 'Conjuring' Film Was A Monster Hit, But There's Bad News Now

Director Michael Chaves indicates that the plans for the franchise remain unchanged and there won't be any more films.

Last month, The Conjuring: Last Rites hit theaters. The fourth installment in the beloved horror series was not exactly well-received by critics, yet it still performed well at the box office.

Worldwide, the film has already grossed over $477 million. That’s significantly more than the first three films. You might think that studio Warner Bros. would immediately want to start working on part five.

Bad News

The truth, however, is different. According to Last Rites director Michael Chaves, the plans for the franchise are actually unchanged. And that means: no more films.

"It's over," said the director. "This is the final chapter. That’s why we named it Last Rites. It is the last one. There won't be any more Conjuring films. This is definitely the end."

Other Plans

This is undoubtedly very bad news for fans of the series. They probably would have loved to see more adventures of Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren.

Nevertheless, there are rumors that the franchise will continue on the small screen. According to Variety, a Conjuring series is in the works for streaming.

'Star Wars' Fans Shocked: Second Season Of Disney+ Series Must Do With A Much Smaller Budget!

The new season of Ahsoka has a smaller budget, yet the storyline remains ambitious and captivating for audiences.

The second season of Ahsoka has officially wrapped, but not everything behind the scenes is as lavish as before. As production in Los Angeles has just concluded, it became clear that Lucasfilm has dug less deep into their pockets for the new season compared to the first eight episodes.

Lead actress Rosario Dawson recently appeared at Comic-Con Scotland, where she shared some new details about the series. She mentioned that her last shoots were alongside Hayden Christensen, who is reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker. The actor previously played a prominent role in the first season, and his return has been officially confirmed since the spring.

Lower Costs, Same Ambition

According to Dawson, Ahsoka will have a smaller budget than the first season, which at that time cost over 100 million dollars. How the savings were exactly achieved remains unclear, but insiders point to the reuse of existing sets and scenery. However, it seems that the creative direction or scope of the story is not being adjusted.

Alongside Dawson and Christensen, several regular cast members are returning, although it is still uncertain how significant their roles will be. Lucasfilm keeps the substantive details well hidden, but it is expected that the new season will further elaborate on the events surrounding Thrawn's downfall and connect to the broader Star Wars storyline on Disney+.

Continuation In 2026 On Disney+

The second season consists of eight episodes and is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2026. Despite the budget cuts, interest remains high. Fans especially hope that the relationship between Ahsoka and her former master Anakin will be explored further this time around.

More Strong Criticism Of Amazon Due To 'James Bond' Adaptation: "They Are Turning Him Into A Disney Character"

Even a British politician from the Conservative Party has now joined the controversy surrounding Amazon's handling of the iconic James Bond character.

Earlier this month, all James Bond films became available on Prime Video. Sounds great for the fans, one would say, but this also sparked some controversy.

Amazon modified posters for several films to feature no guns visible. Many fans were unhappy about this change, and now the streamer is in hot water again.

Warnings

On Prime Video, the films come with warnings upfront. Viewers are alerted that the films contain traces of "violence, alcohol use, smoking, strong language, and sexual behavior." This varies from film to film.

The warning appears briefly at the top of the screen when you start the film. However, many James Bond fans are angry about the modification. "Stop coddling people," one person writes on X. "Let them turn it off if they don't like it."

Disney Character

Now, even a British politician has weighed in. Sir John Hayes, a Member of Parliament from the Conservative Party, said via The Sun: "Everyone knows that fast cars and a fast lifestyle are characteristically James Bond. It seems they want to turn Bond into a Disney character."

Notably, the warnings do not address everything. For instance, there is a scene in You Only Live Twice where Bond (Sean Connery) impersonates a Japanese person. This moment is now considered inappropriate, yet Prime Video provides no warning for it.

Bond 26

Due to this and the previous controversy, some fans believe that Amazon is making the Bond series too "woke". They are worried that the next film will ruin the franchise.

Director Denis Villeneuve, however, seems unconcerned by the criticism. He has previously stated that he is a mega fan of the franchise and is currently busy searching for an actor to play the role.
