Highly Popular Science Fiction Thriller With A 7.9 On IMDb Returns In February With A Second Season

Hulu reveals trailer and release date for season 2 of the science fiction thriller "Paradise."

The science fiction thriller Paradise is returning faster than expected. Less than two months after the cliffhanger in the last episode of season 1, the second season is about to begin. Hulu has released the official trailer and announced the release date.

In the first series, we followed Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown), who hid for years in an underground bunker because the world outside was supposed to be uninhabitable. The final scene of season 1 showed him maneuvering an airplane to the closed hangar doors, which then opened, and the image abruptly faded out. The trailer for season 2 now reveals what happened next. And yes: there is still life above ground, and hope for a reunion with his wife Teri (Enuka Okuma).

New World, New Threat

Unlike season 1, in which life above ground was only seen in flashbacks, season 2 predominantly takes place in the rediscovered world outside. As Collins continues his quest, the residents of the underground city are trying to recover from the political chaos and violence with which the previous season ended.

Familiar characters return as well. Julianne Nicholson is back as Sinatra, who narrowly survived an assassination attempt in season 1. Sarah Shahi (Dr. Gabriela Torabi), Nicole Brydon Bloom (Jane), and James Marsden, who returns via flashbacks as President Cal Bradford despite his character's demise, are also reappearing. New to the second season is Shailene Woodley, known from Big Little Lies.

Quick Return

The first episode of Paradise premiered on January 28, 2025, and the second season will premiere on February 23, 2026. Thus, there is exactly thirteen months between the two seasons. On the release day, three episodes will be made available at once, followed by a new episode each week.

Paradise has an IMDb score of 7.9. The trailer for season 2 has now been released, offering a glimpse into new storylines, mysterious revelations, and returning characters.

Netflix's 'The Abandons' Is Being Demolished

The new Netflix series 'The Abandons' receives mixed reviews: clearly no 'Yellowstone'. This series leaves much to be desired.

For the past few days, a new western series has been available on Netflix. It's called The Abandons, a show undoubtedly created after Yellowstone proved to be a massive success. Unfortunately, after harsh criticism from reviewers, little remains of the series.

The Abandons, currently sitting at only 24 percent, revolves around two rival families in the lawless West. Matriarchs clash over land and power in Oregon during the 1850s.

Easy To Tune Out

Roxana Hadadi of Vulture criticizes the series for lacking simple viewing pleasure: "For those seeking entertainment, the series makes it all too easy to tune out." Her verdict aligns with the low Tomatometer score.

According to Hunter Ingram of TheWrap, the production struggles mainly with itself: "The biggest issue is a frustrating urge to overcomplicate its own vision." This results in an erratic course and a less sharp storyline.

Artificial Framework

Robert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times praises some set pieces but remains reserved: "The series is busy and often violent, with a few impressive scenes, but outside of the majestic Canadian nature, everything feels artificial and schematic." He is not convinced by its tone and form.

John Anderson (Wall Street Journal) questions the dialogue: "People may have spoken like this once, but probably only from the pulpit in church." The language feels solemn and theatrical to him rather than natural.

Creepily Addictive

There is also another perspective. Rebecca Nicholson (Financial Times) gave it 3/5 and writes: "Despite everything, it’s creepily addictive. It’s like shamelessly watching a soap opera." For her, the series remains captivating despite its flaws.

After An Exceptionally Short Wait Of 11 Months, The Final Season Of Prime Video's Biggest Series Is About To Start

The final season of The Boys premieres on April 8, 2026, and promises spectacular twists and turns throughout the episodes.

Amazon Prime Video has officially announced the finale of The Boys. The fifth and final season will begin in April 2026, featuring a premiere that includes two episodes right off the bat. Season 4 premiered on June 13, 2025, with Season 5 set to launch on April 8, 2026. This results in a gap of just under a year, which is relatively quick for a concluding season of a major series.

Starting from April 8, a new episode will be released weekly, culminating in the finale on May 20. This series marks the end of an era for the satirical superhero series, which has been one of the most popular titles on Prime Video since 2019. In Season 5, Homelander is completely out of control, while Hughie, Mother's Milk, and Frenchie are trapped in a so-called 'Freedom Camp'. Annie is trying to build a resistance movement, and Butcher makes a reappearance, armed with a virus that can eliminate all Supes.

Padalecki And Ackles Reunited

During a panel at CCXP in Brazil, footage from the final season was shown for the first time. The trailer features a notable scene where Jared Padalecki appears alongside Jensen Ackles and Antony Starr (Homelander). Although Padalecki's character has not been named yet, it seems there will be a direct link between him and Soldier Boy (Ackles). The two previously worked together for years on Supernatural, which was also created by The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke.

Furthermore, the trailer shows Butcher rejoining his old team. Despite their previous split, they now must join forces to prevent a potential end of the world.

Final Chapter Of A Franchise

With the final season comes the conclusion of a successful formula that has now expanded into a broader universe. Amazon has already expanded The Boys with the spin-off Gen V, the animated series Diabolical, the upcoming prequel Vought Rising, and a planned series set in Mexico.
