What You Need To Know About 'The Naked Gun' With Liam Neeson Before Watching It In Theaters

Liam Neeson is set to revive the legacy of Leslie Nielsen in this exciting new reboot of 'The Naked Gun', bringing humor and crime-solving antics to the big screen.

The Naked Gun films featuring the legendary Leslie Nielsen seemed like products of their time, but nothing could be further from the truth. Liam Neeson breathes new life into the series with The Naked Gun, a sequel/reboot.

In this article, you'll read everything you need to know about the film before seeing it in theaters.

Story

Only one man has the specific skills to lead Police Squad and save the world. Frank Drebin Jr. (Neeson) follows in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Frank Drebin.

Professionally, he is as clumsy as his father and usually solves crimes through mistakes and coincidences. When a bank is robbed, Frank Jr. disguises himself as a little girl to thwart the criminals.

Long Development

Originally, it was intended that no more films would be made in the series after The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult. However, it seemed that Leslie Nielsen would appear one last time as Frank Drebin in a fourth film titled The Naked Gun: What 4? Rhythm of Evil.

The Zucker brothers and Jim Abrahams, the creators of Police Squad and The Naked Gun, were not in favor of this. Their wish came true: Paramount wanted to completely cut Nielsen from the film to save money, preventing the film from ever getting off the ground. The film released this week was developed ten years ago. Ed Harris was initially set to take on the role of Frank Drebin Jr., but Neeson quickly took over the part.

Finally In Theaters

The reboot from director Akiva Schaffer (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy) finally hits theaters this week. Neeson is joined by stars such as Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Danny Huston, and Kevin Durand.

You can watch the film starting August 1 in theaters.

The Brutal German War Film 'Der Tiger' Resembles Famous And Furious War Movies, But Is Also Quite Different...

The impressive trailer for 'Der Tiger' reminds us of 'Fury', highlighting the horrors of war.

This week we released the trailer for the German war film Der Tiger, a production by Amazon Studios. The already impressive film will debut in theaters across Germany, and it draws comparisons to another significant tank movie: Fury.

Fury came out in 2014, directed by David Ayer, featuring actors Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, and Jon Bernthal in leading roles. The German Der Tiger is helmed by director Dennis Gansel, with main roles played by David Schütter, Laurence Rupp, and Leonard Kunz.

The Same, Yet Different

Both Der Tiger and Fury portray the horrors of war from the perspectives of individual soldiers. Both films emphasize how war breaks and binds people. The focus is not on strategy, but on personal survival instincts and moral complexity.

Fury is set in the final months of World War II, featuring American soldiers in a Sherman tank. Der Tiger follows German soldiers at the Eastern front in 1943, in a Tiger tank.

Hollywood

Another major difference is that Fury cost around $80 million to make, while Der Tiger is likely much cheaper. Fury grossed an impressive $211.8 million in 2014. Der Tiger can only dream of such figures.

Der Tiger premieres on September 18 in German cinemas, and later in 2025, the film will debut exclusively on Prime Video. Perhaps this and further promotion could lead to a release in theaters worldwide.

Christopher Nolan In Trouble? 'The Odyssey' Asked To Stop Filming

Christopher Nolan has found himself in a troubling situation given the political implications of his latest filming location in Western Sahara.

Fans of Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer) are eagerly anticipating his next film, The Odyssey. Filming for this project has been taking place worldwide for some time now.

However, he is currently facing serious issues. Filming is underway in Dakhla, a city in Western Sahara. The area around Dakhla was annexed by Morocco years ago, and most UN member states do not recognize Morocco's sovereignty there.

Request

Human rights activists argue that Nolan is contributing to an illegal occupation. Representatives from the Sahara International Film Festival are now urging the director to halt filming in the city.

"We believe that Nolan and his team would be shocked if they were fully aware of the implications of filming here," the festival states. "This is an area where the indigenous people are unable to make films about their own stories due to occupation."

Response

It’s unclear whether Nolan is aware of this request. Universal Studios has not yet responded, and it is also uncertain how much longer filming will last in Dakhla.

The Odyssey is a mythological epic about Odysseus (Matt Damon), a Greek warrior trying to return home after the Trojan War. The cast includes Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and more. The film will be released in theaters in July 2026.

Jason Momoa's "Chief of War" is an innovative series redefining historical drama with epic battles and rich narratives.

Anyone who thought the era of epic battles, bloody power struggles, and impressive world-building was over will soon find a new obsession. Chief of War, the highly anticipated Apple TV+ series starring Jason Momoa, is set to offer a groundbreaking viewing experience according to its creators. It even openly cites Game of Thrones as a benchmark that it aims to surpass.

The historical drama series is set in Hawaii in the 18th century and follows the rise of Ka'iana, a warrior rebelling against the kingdom of Hawaii in an effort to unite his people. Jason Momoa, who previously portrayed an iconic warrior as Khal Drogo, is not only the lead actor but also the creator and producer of the project.

Larger Than Westeros

According to a source who worked on Game of Thrones, the scale of Chief of War is almost beyond comprehension. Their statement leaves little room for nuance: "This blows Game of Thrones away. Forget the dragons, this is just insane." This positions Apple’s series as more than just a prestige project; it aims to be a cultural moment.

Tradition, Struggle, And Prestige

Where fantasy series often hide behind mythical creatures and magic, Chief of War draws its strength from reality, tradition, and colonial history. The trailer hints at a series filled with physical intensity, political dynamics, and personal tragedy, all set against the backdrop of an underappreciated but rich culture.

The first two episodes of Chief of War will be released this coming Friday, August 1, 2025, on Apple TV+, followed by a new episode each week.
